The interplay of correlated spatial modulation and symmetry breaking leads to quantum critical phenomena intermediate between those the clean randomly disordered cases. By performing a detailed analytic numerical case study quasi-periodically (QP) modulated transverse field Ising chain, we provide evidence for conjectures Ref. [Crowley et. al. 2018] regarding QP-Ising universality class. In generic case, confirm that logarithmic wandering coefficient $w$ governs both macroscopic exponents energy-dependent localisation length excitations. However, special values phase difference $\Delta$ exchange couplings, transition has different properties. For $\Delta=0$, generalised Aubry-Andr\'e duality prevents finite energy excitations from localising despite presence wandering. such fields couplings are related by lattice shift, vanishes. Nonetheless, small non-trivial localised Our results add rich menagerie transitions in modulation.

Gradient critical phenomena in the Ising quantum chain: surface behaviour
Abstract. We consider the influence of a power-law deviation from the critical coupling such that the system is critical at its surface. We develop a scaling theory showing that such a perturbation introduces a new length scale which governs the scaling behaviour of the density profiles as well as the finite-size behaviour of the surface properties. Exact results are obtained for the Ising quan...
متن کاملHigh order perturbation study of the frustrated quantum Ising chain
In this paper, using high order perturbative series expansion method, the critical exponents of the order parameter and susceptibility in transition from ferromagnetic to disordered phases for 1D quantum Ising model in transverse field, with ferromagnetic nearest neighbor and anti-ferromagnetic next to nearest neighbor interactions, are calculated. It is found that for small value of the frustr...
متن کاملLocal critical behaviour at aperiodic surface extended perturbation in the Ising quantum chain
The surface critical behaviour of the semi–infinite one–dimensional quantum Ising model in a transverse field is studied in the presence of an aperiodic surface extended modulation. The perturbed couplings are distributed according to a generalized Fredholm sequence, leading to a marginal perturbation and varying surface exponents. The surface magnetic exponents are calculated exactly whereas t...
متن کاملNonequilibrium dynamic critical scaling of the quantum Ising chain.
We solve for the time-dependent finite-size scaling functions of the one-dimensional transverse-field Ising chain during a linear-in-time ramp of the field through the quantum critical point. We then simulate Mott-insulating bosons in a tilted potential, an experimentally studied system in the same equilibrium universality class, and demonstrate that universality holds for the dynamics as well....
متن کاملEntanglement dynamics in critical random quantum Ising chain with perturbations
Many-body localization (MBL) is an active area of research studying the effects of interactions added to an Anderson insulator [1–4]. One characteristic feature (among others) of MBL lies in the entanglement dynamics [5]: Starting from a product state, the entanglement entropy grows logarithmically with time. This is in contrast to the case of an Anderson insulator, in which the entanglement en...
